The Scorpion’s Promise

If this ends in ruin
You must forgive me
It’s not my fault,
I was In my own wilderness
Outside of influence
And now here you are.
Pulling me in,
How deep?
I’m not sure how far.
That smile, those eyes
calling me closer
Like a scorpion lures its prey.

So say you will,
Because I’m as good as gone
I’ve already been hit by your venom.
I feel it going through my system
And the only antidote I can see
Is your seduction.
How else can I fight it?
What else could be the solution?
Your very essence
Is waging a war on my senses
Entangling my emotions
Casting my spell on you
In return for doing so to me
Is my only retaliation.

But,
If not your forgiveness,
Then grant me your understanding—
I was speeding through my own desert,
A hundred miles an hour,
Blinded by the heat of your gaze,
Your curves striking like a hidden dune,
And I crashed,
Venom spilling deeper into my veins.
Caught without warning,
Completely unprepared.

You could be
My beautiful destruction,
As I may be yours.
And if we ruin each other,
Let it be worth every scar.
But if your touch
brings only my undoing
You’ll hear no blame—
Only the echo of what we became.
