Ubuntu is not a word, but a way of life, the way to truly excel and be all we can be. First we must understand what it is to be human. There is no one word that fully explains what it is to be human, no one can truly be taught to be human. To be human is to be perfectly unique, yet flawed. It’s to be weak, yet mighty; to be kind hearted, yet vicious; to be intelligent, yet ignorant. That is human.
To be human is to be a unit, no one person can be great by themself. Man or woman could only do so much without their counterpart, yet together they bring forth life itself. We can only excel so much alone, but as a unit we can and have defied gravity.
Like a body works all together to survive, so too we as human must live as the body exemplifies. If one unit is failing then all will fail. The better each individual is the better the unit will be; therefore we must endeavor to ensure each person can be their best. We must learn from each other, grow with and build each other, thus enabling the individual to be their best.
As a child I learnt the phrase “no man is an island, no man stands alone, each man’s joy is joy to me, each man’s peace is my own, we need one another…”. We all need a team to learn from, to grow with, to be our best. Individually we are powerful, but as a unit we are unstoppable. This is Ubuntu.
